I’m Colin Heaton
Colin Heaton, "historian, film/TV consultant, author, writer, director, and producer" served in the US Army and US Marines and was a professor of history at American Military University. He has been working as a consultant for film and TV specializing in documentaries.
He is currently developing historical documentaries, feature film and series projects. His last major project was working with Dale Dye and Marilyn Walton as a technical consultant on the WW II limited series Masters of the Air for Kirk Saduksi, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.
Specialist in military subjects available for consultation to directors and producers. Working with Michael Droberg of 10th Legion Pictures & Tonmoy Rana, as well as Patrick Kilpatrick of Uncommon Dialogue films.

Col. Hannes Trautloft discovered the Buchenwald concentration camp, and upon learning of the horrors, and the Allied airmen being held there illegally, he set forth a series of motions that would either end in success or failure, and himself possibly executed.

Lt. Gen. Adolf Galland, General of the Fighters ran interference for Hannes Trautloft to Field Marshal Erhard Milch and Reich Marshal Hermann Goering to assist in saving the 168 Allied airmen sentenced to death by Reichsfuehrer-SS Heinrich Himmler.

Heinrich Himmler
Heinrich Himmler had ordered the airmen held at Buchenwald under orders that they were not to be transferred to POW camps. He then issued the execution orders to Col. Herman Pister. Saving them was a race against time.

SS Gen. Gottlob Berger was in charge of concentration camps, and was given the task of ensuring the execution orders would be carried out against the Allied airmen and other POW’s.

Dr. SS Lt. Gen. Dr. Hans Kammler
Commanded slave labor for Hitler's Secret Weapons Projects, to include managing the slave labor for the rocket and jet programs. He wanted the technical skills the Allied airmen possessed for his projects. He was instrumental in developing the crematoria used in the death camps.

SS Obergruppenfuehrer Karl Wolff was Heinrich Himmler’s Chief of Staff and Personnel Officer for the SS responsible for assignments of officers. His interview provided much of the information from the SS side of the story, and Himmler’s reaction to the rescue, as well as Hitler’s.
